Alexander Wang to leave Balenciaga

It has been confirmed that Alexander Wang is preparing to leave his role as creative director at Balenciaga, after taking over from Nicolas Ghesquière after his 15-year tenure in November 2012. A Parsons New York graduate, Alexander Wang launched his own-name brand in 2005 and showed his first women's ready-to-wear collection at New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2007. The structured, urban, minimalist look exemplified by the T by Alexander Wang line took the fashion world by storm and he brought the same fresh, urban sportswear aesthetic to Balenciaga three years ago. The Spring/Summer 2016 will be his last for Balenciaga, shown at Paris Fashion Week October 2, 2015, after which a new creative director is expected to be announced. Alexander Wang is planning to concentrate on his own label, including the opening of a London store, set for Fall.
