Historic Paris department store Le Bon Marché is looking Stateside September 3 to October 17, with an exhibition that turns the spotlight on the creativity currently coming out of Brooklyn. With more than 100 designers, artisans and chefs representing the bold, innovative New York neighborhood, this is certainly one for your Fall to-do. After Brazil and Japan in recent years, Le Bon Marché is turning to all things Brooklyn this Fall, for an exhibition that opens today until October 17 in a celebration of the culture and dynamism of the New York neighborhood. The Left Bank department store has brought together fashion designers, ceramicists, chefs, florists, craftsmen, chocolatiers, jewelry designers and decorators to represent the new generation of Brooklyn creatives in the first-floor exhibition space, recreated in warehouse-style exposed brick as a New York loft. Under the copyrighted Made in Brooklyn label, a host of makers who have set up studios in the former docks along the East River have brought Brooklyn to Le Bon Marché, with boho skirts from Ulla Johnson, androgynous styling from Yune Ho, woolen hats by Lynn & Lawrence, Glitch's graphic rugs, jewelry by Catbird, D.S. & Durga craft fragrances, Baby Degen for newborns, Brooklyn Brine pickles and chocolate by Mast Brothers. In all, over 100 promising labels founded by young talents in design, crafting, vintage, lifestyle and clean living are present, as well as the Brooklyn Amusement Park, also on the first floor of Le Bon Marché, created by musical duo Polo & Pan. You can even drop by celebrity tattoo artist Scott Campbell for body art, or pick up a little Brooklyn-style East Coast flavor at the store's Grande Epicerie de Paris.
